In the glass. Little vineyard; on comparable gneiss soils elsewhere, light, fruity red wine and fresh white. No distinct style demonstrable in the Chalonnaise. (weak indication)

Orthogneiss with large 'eyes' of feldspar, formed under high pressure and temperature from an older granite, part of the lower gneiss unit of the Variscan basement in the Côte Chalonnaise. Outcrops in narrow strips where the Jurassic cover has been eroded away.

For the vine. Weathers to an acid, stony, sandy-silty soil, lime-poor and moderately deep; reasonably free-draining, quick to warm, poor in nutrients. No chlorosis.
